About

About

Wildcat Fencing is a club sport that teaches épée fencing to any and all who are willing to learn. We also teach the basics of epee maintenance and care, and we facilitate competition both within our club and with other clubs. We frequently travel to Regional Open Cups and send fencers who qualify to Summer Nationals.

You do not need any prior experience to join. All required gear is provided.

Club History & Achievements

Wildcat Fencing was founded in 2009 by Jay Fowler. Our first semester we had four members, second semester - nine, third semester - twenty, fourth semester - almost fifty. We were briefly the largest club sport at the university. We have attended dozens of regional tournaments and sent dozens of people to Summer Nationals and Junior Olympics over the years. Four of our members have earned 'A' ranks, the highest rating available in the US. In 2019, we hosted the largest épée tournament in the state of Arizona in over a decade.

We have dominated the Arizona Division epee points list since its inception in 2016 taking a majority of the top 10 spots, more than all other clubs in the state combined. We currently have more competitive USA Fencing members than any other club in the state.
